On the last day of Maddox’s 1st year

Hard to believe it, but tomorrow our little cutie will be one year old.

I’ve been horrible at documenting her life thus far, and I’m feeling some serious Mom-Guilt as I sit to write this and realize just how delinquent I’ve been at recording the most special of moments.

  • Slept through the night at 6 weeks, and ever since (Thank the Dear Sweet Baby Jesus)
  • First teeth/first solids somewhere around 4 months
  • Crawling at 7 months
  • Walking at just over 10 months
  • First word: Woof (just like big bro)

In preparation for her birthday party this weekend, I’ve been digging through my phone (and not my nicer camera, gasp!) for milestone photos. Looking back at that sweet little face from the very beginning has my mommy heart both full and a little achy.

How did she grow up so fast?

Maddox has been a little delight from Day One… even when she’s a little a-hole.

  • A terrific sleeper.
  • Such a good eater, she literally out-eats her big brother on a regular basis and is now wearing the same size diaper as Anson wore when he still slept in a diaper… less than a year ago
  • A born entertainer, just turn on a fly beat and Maddox will bust out her dance moves

Let’s say she’s busy.

I love her so much I can hardly stand it.

She helped heal a wound I didn’t know still hurt so badly. Her head full of red hair is a poignant reminder of what we are missing and of what we are blessed to still have.

Our family will never be complete in this life, but even still, our family war-cry is:

Who’s got it better than us?
NOBODY!

Happy birthday, Sweetie Girl. The best part of my life is that I’m your Mommy.
